If you played in school, play in church, teach music, or just miss sitting inside a full orchestra, this evening is for you. There's no audition and no concert. You bring your instrument, we hand out a full orchestral work, and Kyle Knox takes the group through it from the podium, the way a professional orchestra reads a new piece.
For November it's Beethoven's Symphony No. 6, the "Pastoral." Registered players get their part by email ahead of time, so you can look it over as much or as little as you like. Printed parts are available on request.
All sections are welcome, and strings can always use more players. Tell us your instrument when you register so we can get you the right part.
Violin 1, violin 2, viola, cello and bass. Bring as many as you can.
Piccolo, 2 flutes, 2 oboes, 2 clarinets, 2 bassoons.
2 horns, 2 trumpets, alto and tenor trombone.
Timpani.

Kyle Knox is Music Director of the Wisconsin Youth Symphony Orchestras and Resident Conductor of the Madison Symphony Orchestra, where he leads six programs each season. Before turning to conducting he was Assistant Principal Clarinet of the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra and performed with The Philadelphia Orchestra and the Santa Fe Opera. He holds degrees from Juilliard and UW–Madison.
Registration is $15 and takes about two minutes. You'll get a confirmation right away and your part by email before the session.
Same time, same hall, $15. We'll choose the repertoire after the November session, and announce it to the email list first.
